Plymouth Township fire destroys home

Plymouth Township Fire Department and Tilbury Volunteer Hose Company, along with several neighboring fire departments, responded to a fire at 15 Towers Road in the PlymouthVillage area of PlymouthTownship at about 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Tillbury Assistant Fire Chief Barry Lore said there was nobody home at the time of the fire.

Lore said the Back Mountain Tanker Task Force was called in due to the lack of hydrants in the seculuded area of the township.

“Water supply was our biggest problem so we called in the tanker task force which was instrumental in battling this fire,” Lore said.

The house is totally gutted.

“There isn’t much salvageable in the building,” Lore said.

No injuries were reported.

The State Police Fire Marshall will be called in to investigate.
