Barbara J. Harned, Swoyersville, will be her executive secretary at a salary of $45,703.
Michelle Tracy, Pittston, will work as tipstaff for $39,665.
Romilda Crocamo, Scranton, was hired as senior law clerk for $39,456.
Kerrie Barney, Nanticoke, will also work as a law clerk for $24,873.
The hirings took effect on Monday, Gartley’s first day in office.
The staff hired by county Judge William Amesbury, who also took office Monday, had been announced earlier in the week.
Amesbury hired Charles McCormick and Carl Steinbrenner as law clerks, both paid $32,164.
James Maloney will serve as his tipstaff for $39,665.
Eileen Jarecki was hired as his executive secretary for $45,704.
County President Judge Thomas Burke said none of the positions are new. The newly hired employees are filling positions that had been vacated when other judges left the county, he said.
“These are all previously authorized positions,” Burke said.
Job creations must be approved by the county Salary Board. The three county commissioners and controller sit on the board, and the president judge gets the fifth vote on court positions.
