NEWPORT TWP. - A Glen Lyon man was charged by township police on Monday for allegedly aiming a shotgun at a neighbor.
Zachary Ryan, 21, of West Main Street, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $5,000 bail.
According to the criminal complaint:
Michael Torres told police he asked Ryan to turn down music because he was studying around 10 p.m. Sunday. When Ryan opened the door, Torres claimed he aimed a shotgun calling him a racial epithet.
Torres walked back to his residence where he claimed Ryan tried to "sucker punch" him several times, the criminal complaint says.
Torres was unable to close his front door as Ryan, according to the criminal complaint, smashed the glass.
A preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled on July 7 in Central Court.
