ROSS TWP. – A Sweet Valley man was arrested on allegations he assaulted two teens during an argument over a dead raccoon that had been shot and was lying in a yard in Hunlock Creek on Monday night.
Stephen J. Trush, 50, of 415 Spring Hill Drive, was arraigned Tuesday morning on counts of simple assault, criminal trespass and harassment, according to court records.
Trush was released on $2,500 unsecured bail.
State police at Shickshinny alleged Trush struck a 16-year-old girl with a broom and then shoved his 19-year-old son during the verbal altercation at 4 Sunset Terrace, arrest records state.
According to the criminal complaint:
The girl’s mother, Heidi Ungureit, 36, called the Shickshinny barracks, alleging that Trush was threatening her and her family and assaulted her daughter and his son, Andrew Trush, around 10:50 p.m.
Ungureit further alleged that the argument ensued between herself and the boy’s father over the dead raccoon. Trush refused to remove the animal and began harassing her.
Trush began arguing with Ungureit’s daughter, the criminal complaint states. The verbal bashing continued and escalated into a fight with the girl.
Trush grabbed a broom and struck the girl in her upper right arm. The mother asked Trush to leave their home, but he refused.
A preliminary hearing has been tentatively scheduled for March 31 at Central Court.
