According to the campaign, Biden will speak to voters about the economic crisis that is impacting Pennsylvania families.
“He will discuss how an Obama administration will work to jump-start the economy and fight for middle-class families, while U.S. Sen. John McCain would simply continue Bush’s failed policies of the last eight years,” a campaign release stated.
Biden is the vice presidential running mate of Democratic U.S. Sen. Barack Obama. They are opposed by Republicans McCain and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
Biden is expected to speak at 2:30 p.m. on the west bank of the Susquehanna River at the foot of the Market Street Bridge. The event is free and open to the public. Tickets are not required.
Bridget Giunta, administrative coordinator for the city, said no streets or bridges will be closed for the event. She said vehicles may still use the Market Street Bridge.
Parking is limited. People are encouraged to walk from downtown across the Market Street Bridge or use public transportation.
Attendees may park in the Kirby Park lot or utilize street parking.
Those with disabilities and senior citizens may park on the gravel road in Nesbitt Park, exiting from the North Street/Pierce Street Bridge to 1st Avenue, Nesbitt Park entrance.
