Yannuzzi wins in Hazleton

According to preliminary voting results, Mayor Joe Yannuzzi has won re-election, defeating Grace Cuozzo 1,489 votes to 1,331.

Independent John Medashefski placed third in the race, garnering 336 votes.

Democrats Keith Bast and Jean Mope won the two open council seats, ousting incumbent Councilwoman Evelyn Graham. Bast won 2,337 votes, Mope took 1,646 and Graham collected 1,428.

Bast won a Republican write-in nod in May, effectively eliminating Councilman Chris Puza from the race.
