PLYMOUTH - Police have arrested and charged 23-year-old Martin Green with an open count of homicide in the Saturday night shooting death of David J. Gerson, of 111 Center Ave., Plymouth.
Police allege in court papers that Green shot Gerson multiple times with a .45-caliber handgun at Green's apartment at 15 1/2 E. Shawnee Ave. late Saturday night. They allege that Green called Luzerne County 911 at 1:09 this morning to report that he shot and killed Gerhan, whom he referred to as his father.
Luzerne County District Attorney Jacqueline Musto Carroll, who had a press conference after Green's arraignment at the Plymouth Borough Building before District Judge Donald Whittaker, said investigators determined that Gerson was not Green's biological father, but the men had a close relationship.
Whittaker remanded Green to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility without bail to await his preliminary hearing, which Whittaker scheduled for 10 a.m. Dec. 8 at his Nanticoke office.
Musto Carroll said that while her office is not required to prove motive in a homicide, police suspect drugs played a factor in an argument that led to the shooting.
