HARRISBURG -- An economic impact study released Wednesday on the proposed cargo airport near Hazleton recommends the developers provide a letter of commitment from a partner before the state commits any funding toward the $505 million project.
The developer, Gladstone LP, indicated it is in contact with a company that it believes could persuade other carriers to direct international cargo to the proposed facility. None of the major carriers, including FedEx and UPS, are likely to locate to the airport, the study said.
