U.S. Rep. Paul Kanjorski’s largest support comes from big financial companies, while challenger Lou Barletta has the support of the Philadelphia cheese steak king.
The Vento family, of Geno’s Steaks fame, has donated $10,000 to the Republican mayor of Hazleton, who is trying to unseat the 12-term incumbent Democrat Kanjorski.
Kanjorski has received 27 donations of $2,300 – the most an individual may give to one candidate per election cycle, according to the Federal Election Commission.
The donations were listed on the April filings with the FEC. Both candidates must submit their latest financial reports by Tuesday.
The largest donation a candidate can receive from a political action committee on behalf of a company or corporation is $5,000.
