Police allege Gino Setta, 36, Dawn M. Gills, 26, and Michael D. Boback, 31, all from Ashley, assaulted William Tattersall with pool sticks and a bar stool in the Steel Horse Saloon, North Pennsylvania Avenue, on March 17.
Tattersall suffered broken bones in his lower back and both sides of his face, and lacerations to his head, police said.
Police allege Gills, a bartender at the Steel Horse Saloon, lured Tattersall to the tavern.
Setta, Gills and Boback surrendered with their attorney, Andrew J. Katsock III, on Wednesday on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and disorderly conduct. They were arraigned by District Judge Martin Kane in Wilkes-Barre and released on $5,000 unsecured bail.
According to the criminal complaints:
Tattersall told police that Gills called him at about 8:40 p.m. March 17 and asked him to come to the Steel Horse Saloon to settle a dispute.
Tattersall apparently interfered when Gills told a woman to leave the tavern on March 13. Tattersall entered the tavern on March 17 and Gills told him to go upstairs to talk to her boyfriend, Setta, near a pool table.
Tattersall approached Setta, who asked him, “Do you know I ride with the Outlaws? You left a mark on my old lady,” the criminal complaint says. Tattersall said he didn’t touch Gills. Setta replied, “There are 10 guys coming to your house, because I don’t have to do things myself, you see. I have people to do it for me.”
Tattersall said whatever Setta planned was “a mistake.” Setta then confronted Tattersall. “What are you, a tough guy now? How do you feel riding around town with all of us out there?”
Tattersall claimed Setta punched him and that initiated a fight near the pool table, according to the complaint. Setta yelled to Boback for help.
Tattersall attempted to leave the saloon when Gills struck him in the head several times with a pool stick, according to the complaint. Boback also struck Tattersall with a pool stick in the head and back, police alleged.
Tattersall stumbled down some stairs and was struck in the back by Setta with a bar stool, according to the criminal complaint. As Tattersall got up, Boback shoved him and said, “I have a knife and will cut your (expletive) throat if you don’t leave.”
