Is this sexist or what? How come Tina Gartley was asked to answer a question in this interview regarding her husbands business and outside interests but Richard Hughes was not? Mr. Hughes' wife is a lawyer and has practiced in Luzerne County? Was that question only posed for husbands and not wives?

ITS MORE SEXIST THAT PEOPLE ARE ONLY VOTING FOR HER SOLELY ON THE FACT THAT SHE IS A WOMAN!

Doesn’t really matter to me, I will never vote for a woman with a hyphenated name.

Given the state of the County. I think Tina is young, smart and honest just the breath of fresh air required by the court.

I have met and spoken with Tina Polachek Gartley in person on two occassions. She is more than qualified to be the next Luzerne County Judge, and will certainly be getting my vote November 3rd. She is personable, and also a victim advocate, and has done volunteer training to various groups. She is the only candidate that has "earned" my vote.

Why are her ads so misleading? Father a school bus driver, mother a nurse, and not connected to the good old boys club? How about Mr. Gartley who was appointed by now judges PPO, David Lupas, and DA Jackie Musto Carroll, to work in the DA's office since 1992? No connections? Like the rest of the dems, you can't trust her either

George--to answer your question--Gartley's husband is tied to the DA's office therefore she may not be able to hear certain criminal cases due to that tie and, so, as judge, wouldn't help with the criminal case backlog. I didn't get the sense the questioning was sexist...it's simply questioning due to conflict of interest concerns. Hughes' wife is an attorney as well, but doesn't work with the DA's office, so not a conflict. The situations are not comparable. That's the non-emotional, factual answer to your question.

George-- I believe that Mr. Hughes also stated that he worked for and continues to work for the DA's office. So, I guess he's a good ole boy too. Mr. Hughes is a republican, so I guess you can't trust them either. And TCDC, Mr. Gartley only works part-time for the DA. Just like Mr. Hughes, who worked for three past and now the current administration. Can you tell me the difference. He, too, wouldn't "help" the criminal caseload. I say, apples are apples and oranges are oranges.

I believe that the voters of Luzerne County need to do their research before they vote and vote for the person not the party. I don't think being a Democrat or a Republican makes you a more qualified person, but what you've done with your life and how you've practiced and conducted yourself is what is important. I don't think it matters if you are a man or a woman. I will vote for both Democrats AND Republicans on November 3. I will vote for Mr. Hughes and Ms. Gartley on election day.

Who ever said the voters would vote for Tina Gartley because she is a woman. I am voting for her solely because of her qualifications, her community efforts and her sense of perspective. I think she is exactly what the county needs.
