W-B Twp. man pleads to rape

WILKES-BARRE – A Wilkes-Barre Township man pleaded guilty Thursday to several charges, including rape and recklessly endangering another person, after police said he raped a woman and fled from police with her child.

George Wesley Boston, 34, of North Walnut Street, pleaded guilty to charges including driving under the influence, rape, burglary, theft by unlawful taking, eluding police and recklessly endangering another person, before Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas Judge Peter Paul Olszewski Jr.

According to arrest records, Boston forced his way into a South Mountain Road home on June 28 and raped a woman at knifepoint. When the woman escaped, Boston took the woman’s child and led police on a several-mile chase that ended in White Haven, where he stabbed himself in the neck.

Police said that while at the woman’s home, Boston shoved a pillow over her face to keep her quiet.

She escaped from a bedroom when Boston went to unplug an air conditioner and ran to a neighbor’s house to call 911.

Boston got away in the woman’s vehicle, and called the woman while being chased by police to tell her he was going to harm the child if police continued to pursue him.

The woman told police Boston had been drinking before the incident occurred.

Boston struck a guide rail in Hanover Township and remained in the vehicle when police approached. Police said he stabbed himself in the neck. He was later treated at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township for his injuries.

Police said the child was unharmed but treated at a local hospital as a precaution.

Boston will be sentenced on the charges on March 2. Boston faces several years in prison if his sentences run consecutively.

Olszewski ordered him to register under Megan’s Law for the rest of his life and to have no contact with the victims.
