The Old Forge Junior Blue Devils split a doubleheader at Wallenpaupack High School last Saturday in the opening games of All County Conference play.
The B-Team Jr. Devils won in exciting fashion as Cooper Califano scored the game-winning touchdown in overtime for the 12-6 win over the Jr. Buckhorns. Brendan Mozeleski scored the first touchdown for Old Forge (1-0), pounding it in from two-yards out on the first offensive drive of the game for the Jr. Blue Devils.
The Old Forge B-Team was the only American Conference team to come away with a victory during a crossover week of play with the National Conference.
The C-Team Jr. Devils dropped its first game, 13-0, to Wallenpaupack. Turnovers hurt Old Forge (0-1) as the defense played well – allowing touchdowns on only the first and last Jr. Buckhorn drives in the game.
The A-Team Jr. Devils claimed a forfeit victory over Wallenpaupack as the Jr. Buckhorns did not field a team at the highest junior football level. Old Forge (1-0) was the only American Conference team to record a win during cross over play as the National Conference swept the other five matchups.
The Jr. Blue Devils travel to Moscow today to take on the North Pocono Jr. Trojans. North Pocono won only won game last week against Olyphant. The C-Team defeated the Lions, 12-6, and was the only American Conference team to win a crossover game last week. The Jr. Trojans B and A teams lost to Olyphant by a combined score of 57-6.
