PLAINS TWP. – A man was struck by a SUV while he was attempting to push a disabled car involved in an accident off state Route 315 not far from the Wilkes-Barre border around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, police said.
The man was flown to the Community Medical Center, Scranton, with a leg injury.
Police said the man was trying to push off the road a vehicle that was involved in a two-car crash on the highway.
The investigation continues. Police did not report if any charges will be filed.
WILKES-BARRE – Police reported the following incidents:
• Linda Conahan, 46, of North Hancock Street, was arrested on evidence of drunken driving early Saturday morning.
Police said Conahan, driving a 1997 Chevrolet, was stopped at Coal and North Empire streets at 1:20 a.m. Police said Conahan showed signs of intoxication and failed a series of field sobriety tests. She was taken for a blood alcohol content test, police said.
Police said charges of driving while under the influence are pending.
• Harold Haskell, told police that a home on Pine Street was burglarized Friday night and a printer was stolen.
• Police said Luis Cruz, 57, and David Cruz, 30, are suspects in a retail theft occurring at 11:48 a.m. Saturday at Boscov’s Department Store at 15 S. Main St.
• Carol Hirko, 43, of 78 Liddon St., reported someone dented her car with a beer bottle.
• Marissa Lasoski of Midland Court said someone shattered her car windshield while it was parked on Baltimore Street.
BLACK CREEK TWP. – Debra Marhelko, 54, of Nuremberg, told state police at Hazleton that someone placed an explosive device on her vehicle that exploded causing considerable damage. The incident happened at 1:20 a.m. Friday, police said.
BLACK CREEK TWP. – Suzanne Williams of Lancaster was arrested on evidence of drunken driving charges after she struck a concrete barrier on Tomhicken Road at 8:03 p.m. Saturday, state police said.
State police said a 2007 Hyundai Tucson operated by Williams was southbound on Tomhicken Road when Williams failed to negotiate a curb and struck a concrete barrier.
Williams exhibited signs of intoxication and was arrested, state police said.
MEHOOPANY TWP. – A safe with wheels was stolen during a burglary at the Mehoopany Methodist Church, state Route 87, sometime between March 18 and Saturday, state police at Tunkhannock said.
Police said the thief forced open a door and removed the safe.
The safe contained miscellaneous documents, police said.
WEST HAZLETON – Lori Stahura reported someone scratched her passenger-side door on Monroe Avenue between Saturday and Sunday, state police said.
