Frances Checkon

Frances M. Checkon, 85, of Media and formerly of Dallas from 1957 to 1993,
died Friday at the Riddle Memorial Hospital, MediaBorn in Swoyersville,
June 16, 1912, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary Koval Koptcho.
She owned and operated with her husband Buddies Men’s Shop, Luzerne, from
1936 to 1975.
She was a member of Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph G., in 1992; grandsons
Mark and Christopher Brady; several brothers and sisters.
Surviving are her son, Joseph, Libertyville, Ill.; daughters Marcia
Giannini, Diamond Bar, Calif.; Marion Brady, West Chester; eight
grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Galenty, West
Wyoming; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday from the Harold C. Snowdon
Funeral Home, 140 N. Main St., Shavertown, with a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m.
in Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas.
Interment will be in the Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
