Actress: Lisa Zurek

Character: Wicked Witch, from “The Wizard of Oz,” put on by Theatre at the Grove from March 21 through April 13.

THE WEEKENDER: Do you believe you share any of the same qualities as your character?

LISA ZUREK: Yes. We are both passionate and determined to reach our goals. I do draw the line at setting people on fire, like the Wicked Witch does to the Scarecrow.

W: What is your best line in the show?

LZ: There is a scene where Dorothy asks out loud how someone can be so “nasty, mean, and cruel.” The Wicked Witch replies, “Lots and lots of practice!” It is simple but absolutely hysterical!

W: What’s your favorite scene?

LZ: I love the scene with Nikko, my “simian minion.” He does not say any words, but makes these ape sounds that make it very hard for me to keep a straight face.

W: If your character was a real person and you could hang out with her for a day, where would you go and what would you do?

LZ: Keeping in mind that my character is the Wicked Witch, I will have to speak with my attorney first before answering such incriminating questions.

W: If you could take three people with you on the journey down the Yellow Brick Road, who would you choose and why?

LZ: I would take a survivalist so he or she can forage food, make a fire, and build shelter for us. I also would take a photographer so I can get amazing headshots of me for my portfolio, and finally a person to give me foot massages after all that walking.
