BEAR CREEK TWP. – A plan to move the Aqua Pennsylvania water tower on state Route 115 was submitted to the township Board of Supervisors Monday night. The board has to approve the plan.
The water tower would be relocated 50 feet from its current site between the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation building and the entrance to the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
The move’s objective is to have the tower farther away from the road so the tower won’t distract drivers.
Also, Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs has agreed to pay an estimated $400,000 to install and insure a traffic light at 115 and the turnpike. The board is negotiating with the casino owners.
The township will have liability for the light, but the board is seeking a resolution from PennDOT to have full ownership.
PennDOT has approved the plans for the traffic-light system from Borton-Lawson, the engineering firm that will perform the work.
Kuharchik Construction will maintain the traffic system.
