WILKES-BARRE – Republican presidential candidate – Arizona Sen. John McCain – will be featured at a luncheon on July 23 at the Westmoreland Club in Wilkes-Barre.
A ticket to the invitation-only event costs $250. Approximately 250 people are expected to attend. The luncheon is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Dan Meuser, president of Pride Mobility, chairman of the event, would not divulge details about the luncheon or the public event that is scheduled for later in the day.
“Everything has to come from the McCain campaign,” Meuser said. “I’m not authorized to reveal any details. I’m sure we will have more to say as the event draws near.”
McCain will face Democrat Illinois Sen. Barack Obama in the November general election.
Meuser said a public event could be scheduled on the same day but said no site has been selected. The public McCain appearance could be in Luzerne County or Lackawanna County.
Robert Williams, manager of the Westmoreland Club, would not comment on the McCain luncheon.
Meuser ran unsuccessfully for the Republican nomination for Congress in the 10th District, losing a close race to Chris Hackett.
Paul Lindsay, media coordinator of McCain’s Pennsylvania campaign, did not respond to an e-mail seeking additional details.
