EXETER -- An agenda full of routine items made for an uneventful Wyoming Area School Board work session Thursday.
The board considered a contract with 21st Century Appraisals Inc. to print and mail the annual Homestead/Farmstead invitation letters for eligible homeowners who have not applied for property tax relief under Act 1.
Business Consultant Tom Melone said there are about 900 property owners who haven’t applied for tax relief and it will cost the district 39.8 cents each to send out the new invitations.
The board also recognized the receipt of $237,335 as one-half of this year’s property tax relief payment paid out from state casino gambling revenues.
Also considered was a resolution authorizing the retention of Municipal Revenue Services Inc. and the Luzerne County Redevelopment Authority to facilitate the sale of delinquent taxes for 2010 and 2011.
The board also discussed a motion to ratify a request from the Pittston Area Athletic Department to use the Secondary Center pool beginning Oct. 19. The board was asked to formally approve the use Thursday night.
Board members were told that Pittston Area is using the pool while its own is being renovated, a process expected to take about another week and a half, and that sharing the pool with the neighboring district was not interfering with Wyoming Area students accessing the pool.
