SCRANTON – NBC’s “The Office” is looking for local gear that may appear as props on the show.
The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce will host a “prop drop” on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the chamber building, 222 Mulberry St.
Mari Potis, with the chamber, said this will be the third prop drop. She has seen everything come through the door, and each week viewers can usually spot something from a local business. In previous episodes of the show, which will begin filming its sixth season soon, radio station bumper stickers, restaurant menus and bobble heads from the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons have appeared.
“You never know” what the producers or prop masters are looking to use each episode, Potis said. “They want everything.”
Representatives from area companies can drop off items they would like to possibly appear on the Thursday night sitcom.
There are requirements. Items:
• Must be dropped off in triplicate.
• Cannot exceed 50 pounds.
• Should not be folded, dented or tarnished.
And company representatives dropping the items off must:
• Bring two business cards.
• Be authorized to sign a release form authorizing the items to appear on the show.
Producers are specifically looking for certain things more than others, Potis said.
“They love coffee mugs,” said Potis. “Anything that can be placed on a desk or on the wall is great.”
The businesses should be located in the Greater Scranton/Wilkes-Barre region and the requirements for items must be followed without exception.
