(AP) The corporate owners of the Las Vegas Review-Journal want a federal judge to drop two top executives from a lawsuit by the editor-publisher of the rival Las Vegas Sun that aims to block buyout attempts.

Stephens Media LLC attorney Colby Williams said Wednesday that Sun Editor-Publisher Brian Greenspun fails to show why Stephens Media CEO Mike Ferguson or Stephens Holding Co. and SF Holding Corp. President Warren Stephens, or those companies, should be named as plaintiffs.

Greenspun attorney Joseph Alioto didn't immediately respond to messages.

Williams also filed a point-by-point answer Tuesday denying allegations made in Greenspun's initial Aug. 20 lawsuit.

Judge James Mahan has said it's too early to rule on a deal for three Greenspun siblings to sell their interests in the Sun newspaper business to Stephens Media.
