(AP) Heartland liberal Ed Schultz is losing his prime-time show on MSNBC.

The cable network says Schultz is being moved to the weekends, to host two-hour shows Saturday and Sunday at 5 p.m. EDT. Union advocate Schultz, whose nightly show preceded Rachel Maddow, has increasingly seemed out of place in MSNBC's bookishly liberal lineup.

The network says it expects to name his weeknight replacement on Thursday.

Schultz said on his show Wednesday that the new time slot gives him the chance to "get out with the people and tell their stories."
