(AP) G4S, the security company that had a high-profile failure at the London Olympics, says it has been hired to support police at the G-8 summit in Northern Ireland next month.

The firm said Thursday it would supply 450 employees to the June 17-18 event at the Lough Erne golf resort.

Thousands of soldiers and police officers from across Britain will also be brought in to help the Police Service of Northern Ireland.

The annual meeting of leaders from the U.S., Britain, Russia, Japan, Germany, France, Italy and Canada is expected to attract protests, and IRA dissidents also could mount attacks

Britain had to call in thousands of troops after G4S acknowledged weeks before the Olympics began that it could not provide the 10,400 guards it had been contracted to deliver.
