(AP) Ohio State's national-championship hopes rest with the Bowl Championship Series.

That is little consolation to Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer.

With his team ranked No. 3 in the BCS far behind Alabama and Florida State and barely ahead of Baylor it's clear Meyer won't shed any tears when the BCS falls by the wayside later this year and is replaced by a four-team playoff in 2014.

Meyer called the BCS "a flawed system" and said that it was great "for a while."

If neither of the top two loses before the last BCS rankings on Dec. 8, the Buckeyes will likely be shut out of the race for No. 1.

Ohio State carries a nation's best 22-game win streak into Saturday's final home game, against Indiana.
