For ten weeks, beginning Wednesday, September 11, the Waverly Community House, 1115 North Abington Road, will offer a music therapy class for special needs children.
The class, “World Music Drumming” is a recreational music program using drumming to teach teamwork, collaboration, focus, and respect. The instructor, Cheryl Mozdian, is a board certified music therapist who has completed an approved Music Therapy program. Ms. Mozdian served in the Abington Heights School District from 2001 through 2013 directing the High School Band. She most recently taught the World Drumming Program at the Scranton School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children.
Two sessions will be available: children in Kindergarten through Second Grade from 3:45 to 4:30 p.m. and children in Third through Twelfth Grade from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. Both sessions will take place in the Scout Room in the North Wing at the Comm.
