The First Presbyterian Church in Clarks Summit and the Fleetville Community Center will again host detailed instructions in drawing and painting for children. All supplies are provided.
Drawing skills will focus on proportions, values, composition, light and shadow. Pencil, charcoal, Ink, and pastel will be used to create line, space, and texture.
Basic and advanced techniques in watercolor and acrylic painting with an emphasis on creativity are explored. Students will improve brushwork and color mixing.
Visual artist Barry Singer will be instructor at both locations. Singer, known worldwide for his fish-themed art, is a roster artist with The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. He is founder of The Art Room and has had one-man shows locally. His classes cover cartooning, portrait, still life, landscape, and subject matter of the student’s individual interest.
Classes for children will begin Sept. 3, continuing Tuesdays at The First Presbyterian Church on School Street in Clarks Summit. Younger students will meet at 4 p.m. and ages 12 and up will meet at 5 p.m.
In Fleetville this is the 21st year. Classes start Sept. 4, and are held at 6:30 p.m. for ages 8-11 and 7:30 p.m. for ages 12 and up.
