A First Communion Retreat was attended by the second-grade CCD class of St. Joseph’s/St. Mary’s Maternity Parish, Wilkes-Barre. The program was conducted by Sister Gertrude Grimes with assistance from Janice Moody, CCD instructor; Ann Shinko; Tillie Weigand; and June Swida, coordinator. The students viewed the making of bread and communion hosts and made loaves of bread to be shared with family and cut out their individual hosts. Banners were made and hung on their designated seat during the Communion Mass. Some of the participants, first row, are Alexander Bonk and Timothy Wielgopolski.
