Snow did not dampen the festivities for Margaret (Peg) Bromfield of Ashley, who was honored by her family last Sunday in celebration of her 90th birthday.
Born on Feb. 13, 1924, to Irish immigrant Patrick J. Clarke and Ellen nee Nealon, Peg is the oldest of eight children.
In 1945 she married her childhood crush Eddie Bromfield, who died in 1970.
They were blessed with eight adoring children. In 1973 Peg was blessed with her first grandchild Stephanie, but that quickly grew to 26 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She was recently informed by her great-grandson Hunter that he was going to be a big brother and Peg’s granddaughter Amy, who lives in Croatia, was not able to make the celebration because she is due this month with Peg’s 27th great-grandchild.
Among the many surprises was the attendance of her granddaughter Shari with her husband Rick, who flew in from Washington; Tanya with her husband Taige and son Hunter, who flew in from Texas; and her granddaughter Kellaire, who drove in from Virginia.
Along with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was honored by her dear siblings as well as many loving nieces and nephews who stopped in to wish her a happy birthday.
Among the many cards and gifts, Peg was presented with a hard-bound book of photos marking her 90 years of life with memories and tributes written by her children, grandchildren and siblings.
