Charles Gilbert Green celebrated his 100th birthday on June 11, 2013. He was born on June 11, 1913, in Philadelphia.
As a young man he was apprenticed as a wood carver and attended several art schools and the Philadelphia Art Museum. Later he and his family moved to Hazleton.
He met his first wife, Elizabeth Barry. They had two children, Charles Barry and his wife, Alice, and Bette and her husband, the late Dr. Vic Valecce.
He has 10 grandchildren, one deceased, and 16 great-grandchildren.
For many years he was the Beltone hearing aid representative in Pottsville.
After Elizabeth’s death in 1989, he married Alberta Baxter in 1993.
After Alberta’s death, he stayed primarily in New Port Richie, Fla., where he now resides.
Friends and family joined him there for his celebration.
