DALLAS — Sue Smith scored the game’s only goal Monday as the College
Misericordia field hockey team knocked off Eastern College, 1-0.
   
Smith’s goal came 6:11 into the contest, and was assisted by Johanna
Lennon.
    Laura Conway made seven saves for the Cougars to record the shutout.
   
Miseri plays at Wells College at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
   
Colgate field hockey
   
Abby Russin was in goal for the Colgate field hockey team in a pair of
victories over the weekend.
   
Russin recorded her second shutout of the season Friday as Colgate defeated
Fairfield, 3-0. She made seven saves Sunday in a 5-1 victory over Brown.
   
Russin, a Dallas High School graduate, has started in all four games for
Colgate (3-1). She has made 28 saves and allowed just four goals for a 1.00
goals against average and a .875 save percentage.
   
PSU/Wilkes-Barre baseball
   
PLAINS — Penn State/Wilkes-Barre dropped both ends of a doubleheader to
Northampton Community College, 11-0 and 6-5.
   
Jason Stook took the loss in game one. In the nightcap, Jack Gumper was
2-for-4 with two RBI, Jonathan Deaner had a two-run double, and Corey Miller
was 2-for-4. John Franchella took the loss.
   
PSU/Wilkes-Barre continues its 35-game fall schedule today at 5 p.m. with a
game against Wilkes University at Hilldale. PSU/Wilkes-Barre will play
Marywood Wednesday and Thursday, also at 5 p.m. at Hilldale.
   
Scranton field hockey
   
MANSFIELD — Heather Dittman had a goal and an assists as Mansfield
University topped the University of Scranton, 4-1.
   
Michaela Breakell, Andrea Wilson and Carla Heiney also scored for the
Mounts (2-1).
   
Freshman Heather Tallman, a Lackawanna Trail graduate, scored for the Lady
Royals (1-4).
