WEST HAZLETON — Borough police are searching for an auto parts store owner
who disappeared without paying employees or giving pre-paid merchandise to
customers.

Louis Masso, owner of Unique Auto Parts on East Broad Street, has not
showed up for work in several days, police said.
Several disgruntled employees contacted police Friday afternoon because
they never got paid and were hounded with inquiries from customers who never
received parts they paid for in advance, police said.

Calvin DePoalo, who owns the building where the store is located, locked
the doors to Unique Auto Parts on Friday night, police said. DePoalo could not
be reached for comment.

Police said they won’t comment further on the investigation because they
have not located Masso. Police stressed they are only seeking Masso for
questioning and have not charged him with a crime.

Employees told police Masso commuted from New York.

Police ask anyone who is owed pay or parts from Unique Auto Parts or who
has information on Masso’s whereabouts to contact them at 455-3694.

“We’re following up any additional complaints. We’re compiling a report,
and we’ll go from there,” a borough police officer said.
