Eugene Chesko

    Eugene R. Chesko, 73, of West Grand Street, Nanticoke, died Sunday at the
   
Mercy Special Care Hospital, NanticokeBorn in Nanticoke, he was son of Mary
Tyburski Chesko and the late Stephen Chesko.
   
He graduated from Nanticoke High School and served in the U.S. Army Air
Force during World War II as a technical sergeant in the China air offensive.
   
Before retiring, he was employed by the United Mine Workers Union.
   
He and his wife, the former Dorothy Puscz, celebrated their 50th wedding
anniversary on Saturday.
   
He was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Nanticoke, and American Legion Post
350, Nanticoke.
   
He was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard.
   
Surviving in addition to his mother and wife are a daughter, Mrs. Jay
(Marilyn) Thomas, Wanamie, Newport Township; sons John D., at home; Thomas,
San Diego; and several nieces and nephews.
   
Private funeral services were held Tuesday from the Stanley S. Stegura
Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Trinity Church,
Nanticoke.
   
American Legion Post 350 conducted military services.
   
Interment was in the parish cemetery, Newport Township.
