NANTICOKE- The Greater Nanticoke Area School Board unanimously voted to
hire seven teachers and one attendance officer Thursday night.
“This was a very hard choice,” said board President Sylvia Mizdail. “We had
many fine applicants. We just wish that more positions were available.”
Part-time music teacher Jamie Orfanella and part-time business teacher
Kathy Sadowski will receive $13,792. Full-time elementary teacher Jennifer
Williams, math teacher Michele Homnak, science teacher Melissa Summa and
English teacher Richard Budnick will receive $27,583. Full-time music teacher
William Wruble will receive $31,297. High school attendance officer William
Hischak will receive $8 per hour and work a six-hour day.
Applicants for teaching and support staff positions who weren’t hired will
be placed on the list of substitute teachers.
In other business, the board unanimously voted to:
Hire Cassandra Baron, Stacy Tronsue, Shelley Steever and Amanda Womelsdorf
as assistant field hockey coaches; Ed Pashinski as chorus director and Mary
Kashatus as Honor Society adviser. Their salaries are set by the teachers
contract.
Buy a $32,839 video surveillance system for the high school and education
center from Guyette Communication Industries of Plymouth.-
