In response to the column by Bob Quarteroni, it’s obvious that Mr.
Quarteroni read Adolph Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” because, besides quoting from
it, he seems to agree with the Nazis’ perfection of gun control (Feb. 17). The
Nazis invented handgun control and published their plan in The Nazi Weapons
Law on March 18, 1938.

Like Mr. Quarteroni, Hitler and the Nazis felt that firearms ownership
should be restricted to Nazi party members (government) and other “reliable”
people.
Fortunately for those of us who are law-abiding Americans, the U.S.
Constitution and, specifically, the Bill of Rights’ Second Amendment protects
our right to own weapons.

In addition, the Pennsylvania Constitution states, “The right of the
citizens to bear firearms for the defense of themselves, and the State shall
not be questioned.” Is Mr. Quarteroni implying that the big, bad NRA wrote
the state Constitution?

The Framers of the Constitution demanded a constitutional protection for
“the right of the people to keep and bear arms” to protect against the
tyranny, yes tyranny, in government.

So the NRA is evil; therefore The Gun Owners of America, the Jews for the
Preservation of Firearms Ownership and a gentleman named Thomas Jefferson are
also “evil.” The members of these organizations are law-abiding American
citizens exercising their civil rights to firearms ownership and the
protection of themselves, their families, loved ones and, if needed, their
state.

Jefferson stated publicly, “No man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.
The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms
is, as a last resort, to pretect themselves against tyranny in government.”

And Mr. Jefferson went even further when he stated, “And what country can
preserve its liberty, if its rulers are not warned from time to time, that
this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms … The tree
of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and
tyrants.”

Sorry, Mr. Quarteroni, we will not allow the lowest common denominators’
criminals and predators’ – actions to be used to disarm the masses.

Mr. Quarteroni should try researching and writing about our legal system
that protects the guilty and punishes the law-abiding victims. He should focus
on the criminals, being careful not to bruise their self-esteem. Because we
the people, law-abiding gun owners, aren’t going to take it anymore.

Support and defend the Second Amendment.
