Penn Staters in the NFL: Big night for Moye

Derek Moye enjoyed a good night under the bright lights of Monday night football.

Moye, battling for a spot on the Pittsburgh Steelers’ roster, grabbed three passes for 31 yards and a touchdown in the Steelers 24-13 loss to the Washington Redskins.

The former Penn State receiver’s 10-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter from rookie quarterback Landry Jones. Moye caught Jones’ pass over the middle at the 5-yard line and sprinted into the end zone untouched for the score.

On the other side of the field, Penn State’s all-time leading rusher didn’t get to touch the ball.

Locked in a battle for the No. 2 running back spot on the Redskins, Evan Royster rushed for 62 yards on 14 carries in the first preseason game of the season.

Elsewhere, the Monterey Herald has a report on former Penn State and current Oakland Raider defensive lineman Jack Crawford. According to the story, Crawford is set for a breakout season.
