Matt McGloin has done everything he can.
Now, he has to wait to see if his dream of making an NFL team will become a reality.
McGloin played in the Raiders’ last preseason game last night — a 22-6 loss to Seattle. He finished the game 5 of 7 for 41 yards. His chief competition for a roster sport, fourth-round pick Tyler Wilson, finished the game 8 of 12 for 65 yards.
It could be argued that McGloin has been the Raiders’ most consistent quarterback throughout the preseason.
Terrelle Pryor and Matt Flynn, who are battling for the starting spot, have both struggled badly at times. And Wilson didn’t even get on the field in the Raiders’ second and third preseason games.
One blog is even calling for the Raiders to name McGloin the starter.
At any rate, McGloin — and the rest of the Penn Staters fighting for a spot on an NFL roster — will learn his fate in the next 24 hours or so as teams have to be down to their 53-man rosters by 6 p.m. Saturday.
