Family Dollar in Ashley robbed by masked gunman

ASHLEY — Police are investigating an armed robbery Friday at the Family Dollar store on South Main Street.

Police Chief John Bell said a male suspect walked into the store at 1:53 p.m. with a white and black bandana over his face, brandished a black Glock-style handgun and demanded money in a deep, raspy voice.

The robber made off with an undetermined amount of money, Bell said.

The suspect is described as a white male, about 6 feet tall, with a medium build and weighing about 200 pounds, with blue eyes, dark brown eyebrows and a 2-inch scar above his right eyebrow. He was wearing a black knitted hat, a plain black hoodie, light-colored jeans with Celtic crosses on the pockets and white sneakers.
