WEST PITTSTON — The preliminary hearing for a woman who allegedly robbed a bank earlier this month has been continued.

Krystal Begliomini, 33, of East 4th Street, Wyoming, appeared before Magisterial District Judge Joseph Carmody on Wednesday morning. Carmody explained that a communication breakdown between the prison and public defenders’ office resulted in a lawyer not being assigned to her.

A new date was not immediately set.

“Do I have to go back there?” Begliomini asked the judge, referring to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility. She added that she had never been in jail before, and that it was the “worst place I’ve ever been.”

According to court papers, Begliomini is being held in lieu of $100,000.

The incident

Begliomini faces charges robbery and theft by unlawful taking after allegedly robbing the Fidelity Bank, located between Gerrity’s Supermarket and Dunkin Donuts at the Insalaco’s Shopping Center on Wyoming Avenue.

According to court documents, branch manager Trish Curley and two other bank employees identified Begliomini as a customer of the bank and the robber.

Bank teller Jessica Rosengrant told police Begliomini walked into the bank and came directly over to her and said, “I want all your money.” Rosengrant asked what Begliomini meant, and the woman allegedly replied, “I’m robbing the bank, give me all your money,” court documents state.

The teller placed money on the counter and Begliomini allegedly walked out of the bank holding it in her hands. She was seen by other witnesses in a silver Hyundai parked in front of Dunkin Donuts. A witness gave police the license plate number. Police traced the plate back to Begliomini, according to court papers.

Begliomini’s mother, Lori Begliomini, contacted police a short time later and told them she believed her daughter robbed the bank, saying she heard about the robbery and that the suspect fled in a silver Hyundai. She told police her daughter told her earlier in the day that she was going to rob a bank, but she thought her daughter was kidding because she laughed after she said it, court papers state.
