WILKES-BARRE — Police arrested a California man on drug charges after a traffic stop Monday.

Officers stopped a vehicle they say was operating with an expired Pennsylvania inspection in the area of 484 S. Franklin St. at about 12:10 p.m.

Upon making contact with the driver, officers detected a strong odor of fresh marijuana emanating from him, police said.

Police identified the operator as Yukio Pinnock, of Reno Drive, San Diego, and allege he was operating the vehicle with a suspended drivers license.

After Pinnock exited the vehicle, he was asked if he had any marijuana on him and allegedly replied that he had marijuana and a marijuana pipe. Officers removed marijuana from his front right pocket along with the marijuana pipe, police said.
