HARVEYS LAKE — The wife of a former congressman remains hospitalized after a crash at Harveys Lake on Monday.
WNEP-TV reported that a car driven by Jean Nelligan, wife of former Congressman James Nelligan, slammed into the rear of a recycling truck at about 10 a.m. Monday around a curve on state Route 415 while the truck was stopped to pick up recyclables outside people’s homes.
Harveys Lake Police Chief Charles Musial told the TV station there was no sign that Nelligan hit the brakes before crashing into the truck and that she was not wearing a seat belt.
A Harveys Lake police officer said he could release no information because he was not the responding officer. He referred comment to Musial, whom he said would be in sometime this morning.
A nursing supervisor at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township said Nelligan remained in critical condition late Monday afternoon.
