Beiter's Home Center at the East End Center in Wilkes-Barre is closing. The appliance and furniture store on Kidder Street, which opened in June 2010, was the second largest in the South Williamsport-based retailer's chain, at 81,000 square feet. It served as the anchor for the largely vacant center that at one time was home to a Price Chopper supermarket and recently a Steve & Barry's apparel store. The center is owned by WP Realty Inc. of Bryn Mawr. Beiter's has stores in South Williamsport, Lock Haven, Sunbury, Mansfield, East Smithfield and Milton/East Lewisburg. The store is now advertising a $5 million sell-off sale.
