The decorations are already going up and costumes and bagged candy for trick-or-treaters are prominently placed in most retailers. And most are on sale. Halloween must be near.
Michaels, the craft store, is always a popular spot to find some nice items no matter the season. This week, the store has Celebrate It brand Halloween decor half off as well as plenty of other holiday items on sale. If you’re just thinking about autumn decor, the store has plenty of sales on those sort of items, too.
Kohl’s has a huge home sale starting today with tons of items on sale. To make it sweeter, there’s a $10 off a $50 home department purchase coupon on the front of its circular found in today’s Times Leader. While there, if you love Peanuts and love helping good causes, pick up any of the Peanuts characters plush toys or a book for $5 each. Among the available characters are Woodstock, Snoopy and Good Ol’ Charlie Brown. One hundred percent of all the net profits will be donated to Kohl’s Cares, which supports children’s initiatives. If you shop at Toys R Us or Babies R Us and you’re a Rewards R Us member you will get back 10 percent of the purchase price of every Halloween costume you purchase through Oct. 31, up to $100 maximum. If you’re planning on buying a costume there and aren’t a member, I would suggest signing up for the card first. It’s like free money.
While there, take a look at the Plum Organics single baby food pouches. Normally sold for $1.59 to $1.99 each, this week grab ten for $10.
I’m a huge fan of storage bins and totes to keep holiday items not only separated and protected but also if you buy color coated ones you know just what holiday supplies are in each without having to open them one by one. Target has 18 gallon orange totes on sale for $4.39. Grab one or two to keep decorations in.
Target also has plenty of candy on sale including value-sized, mixed candy bags for $13.99. Smaller bags of select brand candy are on sale three bags for $8. Buy three bags of treat sized candy listed on page 13 of the store’s circular and get a free pumpkin pail candy carrier. They always make Halloween photos cuter.
I like when local business succeed, and I like it even more when they share in their joy by giving things away. Two Hens Gift Gallery in Berwick celebrates its first anniversary on Saturday with a noon event. The store, at 812 Monroe St. in Berwick, will offer prizes, refreshments, raffles, giveaways and gifts for attendees. The first 100 shoppers will also receive a free gift with their purchase.
Tell owners Teri Henrie and Dee Henrickson (hence the Two Hens name) that Steals & Deals sent you.
