Vive Health and Fitness in Kingston recently celebrated its one-year anniversary and the business is offering a special deal to Steals and Deals readers.

General Manager Paul Meshyock and owner Diane McAliney have agreed to allow any one bringing a copy of this column in by Nov. 25 to get a free 14-day pass to the health club, along with a free consultation with Vive’s registered dietitian.

The fitness center, which also includes a nutritionist, massage services and a smoothie/juice bar, is located at 500 Third Ave. in Kingston.

While membership is required for the fitness center, the other offerings are available to the general public.

Last week’s trivia question regarding what Pennsylvania town that proclaimed itself the “Birthplace of the Oil Industry” generated nearly 100 responses, 78 of them with the correct answer. The answer is Titusville and Claudette Bartorillo of Nanticoke was randomly selected from the correct responses as the winner.

She will receive a gift certificate in the mail for a free oil change at Will-Eeze Speedy Lube on Business Route 309 in Wilkes-Barre Township.

Head over to your local Shur Save this week and take advantage of the new Signature Pick 5 products throughout the frozen section. From corn dogs to chicken sliders, there are a ton of items on sale for $4.99. This week, with your Gold Card, buy five of the items and pay just $19.95.

Halloween is Thursday and you’ll be able to get costumes, candy and decorations for discounted prices if you wait until the last minute. But may I suggest waiting until after the holiday to grab your costume and decorations for next year’s spooky day.

Stores will be putting everything Halloween on clearance starting Friday with many places offering 60 percent off or more. Those plastic skeletons, pumpkins and witches aren’t going to go bad in a storage bin for the next 11 months. Load up now at places like Target, CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens, Kmart and Walmart.

Other places will discount some candy starting Friday. If they have M&Ms in the discount rack, use the $1 off coupon found in today’s Times Leader to get an even better deal.

There are loads of other coupons in today’s newspaper to put to good use, including:

Taster’s Choice instant coffee is on sale at CVS and Walgreens for $6.99. Use the $1.50 off coupon to pay just $4.49.

Price Chopper has 12 ounce bottles of Dove shampoo and conditioner on sale for $2.99. Use the buy one shampoo, get one conditioner free coupon to get both for less than $3.

• Head to Weis with the 50 cent off Super Pretzel pretzelfills and the 50 cents off soft stix. The items are buy-one, get-one, free. So get two boxes and pay $2 less than the price of just one box since those coupons will each double to $1.
