Summer feels like it is going by way too fast. Maybe I feel this way because spring was wet and cold, and summer, well — it did not seem as warm as last year. But I better accept the fact, fall and winter are coming whether I want them to or not.

The last several weeks, I have been writing a lot about back-to-school sales and where to find some of the best steals on school supplies. Well, this week I found a great deal for those needing new specs for school. Eye Care Specialists on Rutter Avenue in Kingston is offering 50 percent off on lenses on your second purchase of complete eye wear, frames must be at least $100. This special is valid until Labor Day.

I found a great deal at Pet Smart for your furry family members. Use promo code 20offmeds and save 20-percent plus free shipping on medications offered and fulfilled by Vet Source. Orders must be over $49. This offer is valid until Aug. 24.

Looking to fill your cupboards and stock up on some things for after school snacks and lunches? Well today’s Times Leader can help. Kick off your day right with Thomas’ English Muffins on sale at Weis for buy one, get two free. We often freeze the extra packages prevent spoilage.

Weis’ flier has an in-store coupon for a $1 off any two Kraft Mayo or Miracle Whip, 22 to 30 ounce jars. Combine this with their sale of buy two for $6 and save. What a great steal. Just think of the chicken salads or potato salad you can make with this.

Xtra laundry soap, 75 ounces, is also on sale at Weis for $1.99. Sale prices are good until Aug. 23. Be sure to show your Preferred Shoppers Club Card to obtain sale prices.

To satisfy your sweet tooth while getting a dose of vitamins (lets face it, back-to-school also means the start of cold season), check out Thomas’ Food Town’s sale on cantaloupes for 99-cents a pound.

If you have kids, or just like a PB&J sandwich, Thomas’ Food Town flier is advertising Peter Pan Peanut Butter and Welch’s Grape Jelly on sale for $1.49 with a Club Card this week.

Price Chopper has drinks covered with a steal on a 30 pack of CapriSun for $4.99. There is also a in-store coupon in the Price Chopper circular in today’s Times Leader for an eight pack of Gatorade Thirst Quenchers, 20 ounce bottles, for buy 3 for $12. This could come in handy for athletes in your household. You will need the coupon and your AdvantEdage Card for the sale.

Price Chopper is running a promotion where you can post a picture of the first day of school at http://www.pricechopper.com/ or on their Facebook page to enter a chance to win a iPad Mini. This promotion will run until Sept. 20.

Gerrity’s Supermarkets are advertising Maier’s Italian Bread on sale for buy one get one. Also find Surfine White American Cheese on sale for $4.99 a pound this week only. Remember to present your Gold Card to obtain sale prices.

I found a neat looking footlocker storage trunk for $21.97 in Walmart’s flier that could be useful for a college student, or for just extra storage in the house.

Also at Walmart, backpacks are on sale, ranging from $8.88 to $18.28.

Happy shopping.
