EVENT BENEFITS BLUE CHIP FARMS


The Second Annual “Shop for Paws” to benefit Blue Chip Farms Animal Refuge will be held from noon to 5 p.m. today, Jan. 12, at Genetti’s Best Western Empress Ballroom, 77 E. Market St., Wilkes-Barre.


A $10 donation at the door gives participants raffle tickets for a chance to win a basket from their favorite vendor’s table. Extra raffle tickets will be given to those who bring cat/dog food, a toy, litter, paper towels, white vinegar, blankets or sheets.


BINGO SET FOR JAN. 13


Bingo will be held on Monday, Jan. 13 at the Northmoreland Twp. Fire Hall in Centermoreland. Doors open at 5 p.m. and early birds begin at 6:30 p.m. Food and beverages will be vailable.

BLOOD DRIVE


The Masonic Village at Dallas, Irem Clubhouse and the Irem Shrine will sponsor a blood drive from noon to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 16 at the Irem Clubhouse, 64 Ridgway Drive in Dallas.


Appointments are encouraged and can be made by contacting Laurie Knauer at 570-675-1134, ext. 100.


Blood donors must be at least 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Donors are asked to have a photo identification card with them.


BEER SAMPLING


Sample beers from Susquehanna Brewing Company during the Beer Tasting at 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 17at the Irem Clubhouse Restaurant and Pub, 64 Ridgway Drive, Dallas.


For this night only, when you purchase a Susquehanna Brewing Company beer, you can keep the glass. The Irem Clubhouse will offer beef brisket and barbecue ribs specials in addition to its regular menu.

BREAKFAST BUFFET


The Noxen Volunteer Fire Co. will hold a breakfast buffet from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 19 at the fire hall on Stull Road in Noxen.


Ticket price is $8 for adults and $4 for children under 12 years of age.


ROAST BEEF DINNER


A roast beef dinner will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at the Northmoreland Twp. Fire Hall in Centermoreland.


Ticket prices are $8 for adults and $4 for children under 12 years of age and will be available at the door. Takeouts will also be available.

The Music Box Players present Rodgers and Hammersteins’ classic musical, “The King and I,” Jan. 31, Feb. 1 and 2, 6-9 and 13-16 at the Music Box Dinner Playhouse, 196 Hughes St., Swoyersville.


Doors open at 6 p.m. with a buffet dinner at 6:30 p.m. and curtain at 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays. Doors open at 1 p.m. with a buffet dinner at 1:30 p.m. and curtain at 3 p.m. on Sundays.

CONTRA DANCE


A New England Contra dance featuring music by the band “Unbowed” along with calling by Hilton Baxter will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1 at the Church of Christ Uniting, 776 Market St., Kingston.


No partner or previous experience is necessary. Admission to the dance is “pay what you wish.” A pot luck dinner will be held at 6 p.m.
