BAIRD WILL


PERFORM AT SUMC


Step by Step, the Praise Band of the Shavertown United Methodist Church will host Bobby Baird. the well-known trumpet player at the Praise and Worship Service at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 10 at the Shavertown United Methodist Church, 163 N Pioneer Ave., Shavertown.


Baird will play along with the band and also show his trumpet skills with his rendition of Joshua Fit de Battle of Jericho.


WRGN-FM HOSTS


FAMILY SKATE


WRGN-FM radio will host a Family Skate from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on President’s Day, Monday, Feb. 17 at Skateaway, Blackman Street, Wilkes-Barre.


The evening will be filled with fun, encouragement, Christian music and a short message mid-way through the evening. Admission is $3 per person for all attending (skaters and non-skaters). Tickets will be available at the door. Tickets will also be given away on the air in early February.


All proceeds from the event will benefit the ministry of WRGN.

VOLLEYBALL


TOURNAMENT


River of Life Fellowship Youth Group will sponsor a “Raise Them Up Right” Co-Ed Volleyball Tournament to raise money for the church’s gymnasium repairs on Saturday, March 1 at the church, 22 Outlet Road, Lehman.


The tournament will be a Round Robin format and teams will be required to have two women on the court at all times. Teams will be comprized of players 16 years of age and older.


Entry fee is $100 per team and prizes will be awarded. Food will be available for purchase all day.

BREAKFAST BUFFET


SET FOR HUMC


A breakfast buffet will be held form 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 8 at the Huntsville United Methodist Church, 1233 Huntsville Road, Shavertown.


Cost of $7 includes eggs, toast, sausage, ham, pancakes and home fries. Beverages will also be served. Senior citizens and children eat free.


TURKEY SUPPER


The annual turkey supper for missions will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 15 at the Trucksville United Methodist Church William and Melba Dickson Educatin Facility, 40 Knob Hill Road, Trucksville. Takeouts will be available from 4:30 to 6 p.m.


Menu includes turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, vegetables, cole slaw, cranbery sauce, rolls and homemade dessert.


Tickets are $8.75 for adults and $4.75 for children. Reservations made be made by calling 570-696-3897 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.
