“Trunk or Treat” will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 27 at the Sweet Valley Church of Christ, 5439 Main Road, Sweet Valley.

The Lehman-Idetown United Methodist Church, 1011 Mountain View Drive, Lehman will hold a “Trunk or Treat” from 2 to 4 p.m. today, Oct. 27 in the church parking lot. Children are invited to dress in their Halloween costumes and receive treats. Those interested in participating by decorating their trunks and treating the children are invited.


“Light the Night” featuring a variety of indoor amusements and the annual chili cook-off will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31 at the Rock Rec Center, Carverton Road, Trucksville.

Chili contestants should have their chili available no later than 6 p.m. There will be special prizes for first, second and third place.

A ham dinner will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Nov. 2 at the Alderson United Methodist Church, Pole 108, Lakeside Drive, Harveys Lake.

Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children. Menu includes ham, green beans, scalloped potatoes, roll and butter, pie and beverage.

A baked chicken breast dinner will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Noxen United Methodist Church, Route 29, Noxen.

Dinners, at $8 each, include chicken breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, vegetables, cabbage salad, rolls with butter, beverages and homemade pie.

Takeouts will be available.


“Compassionate Senior Care: Looking Out for Our Loved Ones,” will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6 in Father Sammons Hall in the basement of St. Theresa’s Church, Shavertown.

Guest speaker will be James Siberski, MS, CMC, Coordinator and Assistant Professor of Gerontology Education and Director of the Geriatric Care Management Program at Misericordia University, who will offer tips for family members and caregivers.

A craft fair will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9 at the Lehman-Idetown United Methodist Church , 1011 Mountain View Drive, Lehman. Shop from local and handmade artisans and crafters with Scentsy, Jamberry and other handmade items. Admission is free.

A breakfast buffet will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9 at the Huntsville United Methodist Church, 2355 Huntsville Road, Shavertown.

Senior citizens and children age 6 and under eat free. Adult charge is $7. Breakfast includes, eggs, sausage, toast, homefries, pancakes, ham, coffee, tea or orange juice.


The tradition of “The Gift,” a live Christmas program, will continue this year at the Back Mountain Harvest Assembly, 340 Carverton Road, Trucksville. The program is scheduled for 6 and 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13 and Saturday, Dec. 14; and 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15. For more information, call the church at 570-696-1128.
