The Misericordia University softball team swept a pair of games Wednesday in Florida.

The Cougars rallied to beat Alvernia 6-5 in eight innings and topped Elizabethtown 10-1 in five innings.

Lori Brennan hit her first career homer and Kristi Seiler and Melissa Parker both added homers against Alvernia. Sam Hare added three hits, including a single to drive in the game-winning run in the top of the eighth.

In the nightcap, Parker had three more hits, including a homer, and drove in six runs.

Wilkes splits pair

Wilkes split a pair of games in Myrtle Beach, defeating Rosemont College 7-1 and losing 1-0 to Neumann.

Emily McGrath finished 2-for-4 with two RBI against Rosemont. Ally Paskas added two hits, including a two-run triple. Christina Gambino recorded the win in the circle with Nicole Cumbo receiving the save.

WOMEN’S TENNIS

Wilkes 7, Mount Union 2

Madison Salmon, Taylor Hoffmann, Olivia Hewison and Alanna Denauski all recorded straight set wins for Wilkes in its victory at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
