HAZLETON — State Police at Troop S in West Hazleton plan to file charges
soon against a Hazleton man involved in a Christmas Day accident that left
four people injured.

State police said Richard Scott Yamulla, 26, of Wilson Street, was heading
south on Interstate 81 near the Nuangola exit around 8 p.m. Christmas when his
1995 Chevrolet Blazer crossed both lanes and ran off the road.
The vehicle flipped on its roof, trapping Yamulla inside, police said. He
was extricated by emergency personnel and flown by helicopter to Geisinger
Medical Center in Danville, where he remained for several days.

Three passengers — Daniel Coxe, 21, of West 24th Street, Hazleton; Tara
Gimbi, 15, of Putnam Street, West Hazleton; and Stephanie Mariano, 14, of
Hayes Street, Hazleton — were treated at Hazleton General Hospital and later
released.

State police confirmed last week that Yamulla had a suspended drivers
license and was uninsured at the time of the accident. They have waited to
file charges for those violations until the results of a blood-alcohol tests
are received. The test results are expected back shortly, state police said.
