    Grange 567 selling
   
Entertainment Books
   
Mountain Grange 567 is selling Entertainment BooksAt the present time, it
is being discounted for the cost of $25. Orders can be placed by calling
696-1452 or 287-6354 for pickup Nov. 15.
   
For those not familiar with the book, there is a sample book which can be
seen at the Mountain Grange No. 567 Hall, West Eighth Street, Carverton.
   
EXETER TWP.
   
Open house and art exhibit planned
   
Rural Health Corporation of Northeastern Pa., an affiliate of Wyoming
Valley Health Care System, will hold an open house and children’s art exhibit
from 2-5 p.m. Saturday at the Exeter Township Health Center, Route 92, Falls.
   
Festivities will include guided tours of the health center and an art
exhibit featuring works by students from the Magic Brush Studio. Mary
Elizabeth Sokach, DO, and William T. Reynolds, Jr., PA-C, health care
practitioners at the Exeter Township Health Center, will be available to meet
visitors and guests. Refreshments will be served. For more information on the

FORTY FORT
   
Volunteers needed to spruce up fence
   
Lutheran Brotherhood Branch 8892 will participate in the USA weekend “Make
A Difference Day,” starting at 9 a.m. Saturday. They will be volunteering
their efforts on behalf of the Forty Fort baseball for boys and girls little
league, Tripp Street, Forty Fort.
   
Lutheran Brotherhood Branch 8892 has purchased $400 worth of paint and
supplies to spruce up the chain link fence that surrounds the playing field
and concession stand. Volunteers are needed to remove all the trees, weeds and
vines that are covering the fence- bring cutting or digging tools.
   
Any group of individuals interested in participating in this community
service project are urged to be at the field by 9 a.m.
   
JENKINS TWP.
   
Fund drive
   
Members of the Jenkins Township Volunteer Fire Department are currently
conducting a fund drive, and have sent out donor contribution forms to all
home and business owners in the township. The fund drive is necessary because
the proceeds from the annual firemen’s bazaar no longer cover operating
expenses.
   
If anyone has not received a form and would like to help the volunteers,
contact the fire company.
   
LUZERNE
   
Sacred Heart Altar and Rosary flea market
   
The Sacred Heart Altar and Rosary is sponsoring a flea market and craft
tables from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Community School building, 469
Miller St., Luzerne.
   
Tables are still available, for more information call 287-0415 or 287-6840.
There will also be a bake sale and refreshments will be available.
   
SCRANTON
   
Friendship House to hold Children’s Fair
   
Friendship House, the regions largest provider of mental health care for
troubled children, will celebrate “The Children of The World” at its annual
Children’s Fair from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Mall at Steamtown. The
event is sponsored by Boscov’s. Festivities will be free of charge and include
games, prizes, pony rides, costumed characters, arts and crafts and a pumpkin
decorating. There will also be ethnic entertainment presented by more than 25
ethnic heritage groups and community agencies.
   
Other activities include:
   
A Family scarecrow-stuffing workshop outside the Mall at Lackawanna Avenue,
staffed by Prudential Investments employees. A $5 donation is requested for
the workshop for a child size scarecrow and $10 for an adult. Proceeds will
benefit the Friendship House children’s birthday and holiday fund.
   
“Wish Upon A Friendship House Star” contest is open to all children up to
grade six. Each child is asked to create a star and indicate on the artwork
their wish for the children of the world. Any mediums may be used. Artwork
will be displayed at the Mall at Steamtown during the fair. Boscov’s has
donated a $100 gift certificate to be awarded to a winner drawn at random the
day of the fair from among the entries received. More information is available

Pumpkin decorating contests, arts and crafts, baked goods sale, haunted
gingerbread house, Clouse, the Friendship House mouse mascot sweatshirts and
plush animals, and free games and prizes will be available from 11 a.m. to 5
p.m., in Boscov’s auditorium.
   
Children’s ethnic and community groups will entertain beginning at 11 a.m.
at the Mall’s Center Court.
   
WILKES-BARRE
   
Afternoon of Song and Dance set
   
The Slovak Heritage Society of Northeastern Pa. is sponsoring an Afternoon
of Song and Dance with entertainment by the Tatra Slovak Folk Group of
Bethlehem. The event will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday at East Mountain Inn, Route
115, Wilkes-Barre.
   
Reservations are open to members and non-members of the Society and may be
made by calling Alice Maletta at 822-0768 or any board member. A social will
follow. Proceeds from this affair will be donated to the scholarship fund.
   
Caron Counseling to hold open house today
   
The Caron Foundation will host an open house from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at
their new facility, 100 N. Wilkes-Barre Blvd., Suite 301, Wilkes-Barre.
   
Caron Counseling Services will provide evaluation, diagnostic treatment and
intervention services to those affected by chemical dependency; while also
offering general counseling services for those who need individual, marital
and family counseling.
   
The event will include presentations with possible CAC credits available to
professionals. Presenters will be David Rosenker, director of Outpatient
Services from the Caron Foundation, and William Poray, LSW, CAC, clinical
supervisor of the Wyoming Valley Office.
